Research conference on radiophysics starts at Lobachevsky University

The twenty-eighth Research Conference on Radiophysics has started at the Faculty of Radiophysics of Lobachevsky University within the framework of the Research and Education Centre "Fundamental Radiophysics". The conference brings together representatives of research institutes and universities specialising in radiophysics and engineering. 

The conference is organised in 14 sections on fundamental and applied problems of radiophysics. The programme committee includes leading experts of the UNN Faculty of Radiophysics, other  Russian  universities and institutes, the University of Palermo (Italy), as well as radio and electronics industry companies.

For the second year in a row the conference has a section "Problems of Physics and Engineering Education", where the participants discuss the issues of pre-university and professional training of students in the system of engineering education, as well as the organisation of the system of additional education for school students at higher education institutions.

"Today, the problem of engineering education is so acute that it is being discussed at the highest levels, and it needs to be solved. One of the projects aimed at solving this problem is the Advanced Engineering School. The main question is how to train engineers, especially in higher education, and first of all it is necessary to understand what should be taught and how to train them. It is important to immerse students in real tasks, involve them in research and teach them to find new solutions. The results can be achieved through joint efforts involving school students, university students and postgraduates in this process," said Professor Nikolai Starostin, Head of the Advanced Engineering School of Lobachevsky University.

Leading scientists dealing with the problems of physics and engineering education in Russia presented their reports at the conference. The conference will run until 28 May 2024.
