The first Russian textbook on cyberpsychology, a branch of applied psychology that studies the peculiarities of human and social interaction with virtual environments, has been prepared and is to be published by Lobachevsky University scholars. It should be available in the nation's leading online educational libraries by the end of 2025.

"This textbook will be an important step in the development of a new field of science. It presents in detail the foundations of cyberpsychology, its methods and history, as well as its practical applications - from the game industry to defence and digital education. I am particularly pleased to note that it is authored by our researcher Valeria Demareva, Head of the Cyberpsychology Laboratory at the UNN Faculty of Social Sciences," noted Oleg Trofimov, Rector  of Lobachevsky University.

In the context of society's rapid digitalisation, cyberpsychology is highly relevant. Technology is increasingly integrated into education, healthcare, business, personal communication, and even human perception of self. It is cyberpsychology that helps us to understand how the digital environment affects attention, memory, thinking, motivation and behaviour, what risks are posed by online deviations, how to organise effective and safe online learning, how to work with clients in the format of online consulting. This knowledge is important both for developing new digital solutions and for preserving users’ psychological well-being.

"Our textbook is intended for students majoring in psychology, education, digital technologies, and related fields. It will also be useful for practicing psychologists, teachers, UX designers, cybersecurity specialists, HR professionals, and online learning specialists. With its focus on practical aspects and coverage of a wide range of topics — from the history of the discipline to online consulting and neuromarketing — the textbook is useful for anyone working with digital products who is interested in the impact of technology on the human psyche and behavior," said Valeria Demareva, the book's author.
