From May 28 to May 31, the International Festival "Choral Spring in Nizhny" was held in Nizhny Novgorod as part of the celebration of Lobachevsky University’s 110th anniversary. The event, which brought together student choirs from leading universities in Russia and the Republic of Belarus, was supported by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs. Student choirs from Moscow, Ivanovo, St. Petersburg, Cheboksary, Yaroslavl, and Minsk took part in the festival, with the total number of participants exceeding 300. The festival included rehearsals, creative meetings, master classes, and performances by choirs. Particular attention was given to the exchange of experience among participants, the development of youth cultural cooperation, and the promotion of choral art.

Lyubov Shirokova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Nizhny Novgorod region, who attended the opening of the festival, said, "The Nizhny Novgorod region has always been famous not only for its rich scientific traditions, but also for its great culture and its many talented individuals. This year, Lobachevsky University is rightfully hosting student choirs from universities in Russia and the Republic of Belarus, as it is home to one of the oldest student choirs, which has been active since 1949. The university itself is celebrating its 110th anniversary this year. I am always amazed by the young people who, while studying at universities, engage in scientific research, take their first steps in their professional careers, start families, and still find time for creativity."

During the festival, the choirs from Russia and Belarus performed on the stage of the old University Assembly Hall.

On the final day, May 31, a gala concert was held at the Nizhny Novgorod Young Spectator Theatre, bringing together all of the choirs on the same stage. At the gala concert of the festival, the audience was welcomed by Alexander Bedny, UNN Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and International Affairs, Lyubov Shirokova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Eduard Fertelmeister, President of the  Glinka Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory, and Archpriest Evgeny Khudin, Head of the Department for Higher Education of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese.

At the end of the event, all the teams were awarded diplomas in various categories. The "Choral Spring in Nizhny" festival is a major event in the city’s and the region’s cultural life, as well as an important venue for the professional and creative growth of young performers.
