Russian conference on medicinal chemistry opens at Lobachevsky University

The 6th Russian Conference on Medicinal Chemistry with International Participation "MedChem-2024" takes place in Nizhny Novgorod from 1 to 4 July. More than 400 scientists from the Russian Academy of Sciences, leading universities and research centres, representatives of relevant departments, technology transfer centres, expert organisations, major pharmaceutical companies, as well as companies involved in modern materials science are participating in the largest scientific discussion platform on medicinal chemistry and pharmacology.

Nizhny Novgorod is hosting this large-scale event for the first time, and this year it is timed to coincide with the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The co-organisers of the conference are Lobachevsky University, Privolzhsky Research Medical University,  Razuvaev Institute of Organometallic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences, with the support of the Nizhny Novgorod region’s Research and Education Centre.

"Nizhny Novgorod universities and academic institutes have historically developed strong scientific schools in chemistry, physics and medicine. It is no coincidence that the two major universities of Nizhny Novgorod - Lobachevsky University and Privolzhsky Medical University - became the venues of the conference", noted UNN Rector Oleg Trofimov at the opening ceremony.

During the conference, about 120 reports will be presented, leading Russian and foreign scientists will discuss targeted search and synthesis of new drugs, medical and pharmacological aspects of creating new drugs, computer design in medicinal chemistry. The conference programme also includes poster sessions, round tables and a satellite youth conference.
