On 15 January 2024, Lobachevsky University hosted a celebration on the occasion of the Russian Press Day, a professional holiday marked annually on 13 January. The celebration brought together leading Nizhny Novgorod journalists, media executives, teachers, students and postgraduates of the Journalism Department at the UNN Institute of Philology and Journalism, representatives of employers and the Ministry of Information Policy and Media Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

On this day, 26 media figures were awarded with letters of appreciation from the regional government and Lobachevsky University.

She congratulated the media representatives on their professional holiday and noted the great importance of such traditional meetings held by the UNN Journalism Department.

"The positive emotions shared by the participants of these events give an energy boost for the whole year. Many thanks to the journalists for their hard work, for their ability to find the right words to convey the right messages. Of course, I would also like to wish success to aspiring journalists and students who are learning the profession. It is wonderful that they also have the opportunity to attend such meetings. This serves to underline the continuity, which, of course, is very important in any business. Good luck and may everything come to fruition!", Olga Petrova said.

Natalia Polyakova, Deputy Minister of Information Policy and Media Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod region, presented letters of appreciation to the staff of the UNN Journalism Department and to the media representatives.

I would like to express my special thanks to the Journalism Department of Lobachevsky University for its many years of fruitful work. I wish my fellow journalists every success, as well as good and colourful events. May your work bring you joy! And I wish future journalists to find their roads. Good luck!",  said Natalia Polyakova.
