In early 2024, Lobachevsky University received a grant from the Innovation Promotion Foundation to build and launch the Lobachevsky satellite, a compact spacecraft, into orbit around Earth.

To introduce students of Nizhny Novgorod schools to advanced space technologies, Lobachevsky University has organised a platform for preparing school students for technology competitions and projects in the field of space exploration in the following areas:

  • CubeSat - small spacecraft design and prototyping, space mission planning.
  • Satellite images - acquisition, processing and identification of images from space.
  • Space communications - receiving data from a satellite and transmitting data to a satellite in real time.

The classes will start in November and will be held at the Innovation Development Centre of Lobachevsky University. Participation in the program is free of charge.

The project is supported by the Foundation for Promotion of Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology (Innovation Promotion Foundation) and the Nizhny Novgorod Research and Education Centre.
