On September 27, a new space for creative IT ideas was opened at the UNN Institute of Information Technologies, Mathematics and Mechanics (IITMM): the Startup Lab was launched in cooperation with the Russian company Globus. At the initiative of the partner company, the interior of one of IITMM classrooms was renovated, receiving new equipment for online and offline classes and even a whole wall on which one can write with markers.

The Startup Lab is a space for young students and researchers to generate innovative ideas in the field of IT technologies, to develop and test them, and to commercialize the created products in the real economy. The opening of the Startup Lab at Lobachevsky University is one of the first steps towards implementing a large-scale project on the establishment of the Neimark IT Campus in Nizhny Novgorod. This IT Campus is named after Professor Yuri Neimark, who founded the country’s first Faculty of computational mathematics and cybernetics at Lobachevsky University. The symbolic red ribbon was cut by Lobachevsky University Rector Elena Zagaynova and Globus CEO Pavel Korotky.

"Together with our good partner Globus, a Russian IT company from Nizhny Novgorod, we opened our joint Startup Lab today. It is very nice that the head of this company is a UNN graduate, Pavel Korotky. I would like to wish all of our students at the Institute of Information Technologies, Mathematics and Mechanics, in this renovated university space, to come up with bold, creative ideas, with their own startups, and their mentors and teachers would help them package those ideas into projects that make a profit. Ideas are the most expensive thing we produce, especially now and especially in the IT industry. Get a head start! We believe in you and wish you every success!", Elena Zagaynova said at the opening ceremony.

Pavel Korotky, Globus CEO, said that today's event was the first step in realisation of a big project: "I am happy to announce the opening of a renovated classroom at the Institute of Information Technologies, Mathematics and Mechanics, where system analysts, developers and testers, future IT innovators, will be trained. Globus consistently and actively promotes the development of education and research at Russian universities, helping to produce in-demand specialists to solve the most important and significant tasks of the national and regional economies. Today, by opening the classroom at Lobachevsky University, we have made the first step in establishing the Startup Lab project initiated by Globus, thanks to which the student community will be able to generate and implement ideas for their startups."

UNN Vice-Rector for Innovations Mikhail Shiryaev emphasized how dynamically and effectively the partnership between Lobachevsky University and Globus IT company is developing: "It seems like only yesterday we were discussing our cooperation, and now with our joint efforts we managed to speed up the course of time. I would like to wish all of us to accelerate the flying time with our ideas, this flying time being a leitmotif in the realisation of our joint projects. I wish our young people to enter this classroom as students and to come out as businessmen and heads of big companies!"

After the opening ceremony of the Startup Lab, Pavel Korotky gave the first lecture to the students. He talked about his own journey in business, about peculiarities of IT startup projects and the adaptation of beginners to working in the IT industry.
