On October 11, an orientation meeting was held for international students who began their study in English-language undergraduate and graduate programs. The newly arrived students were greeted by Alexander Bedny, Vice-Rector for International Affairs. The students were introduced to the history of the university and its traditions, learned a lot about the Russian system of higher education and UNN’s participation in international academic mobility programs. Foreigners coming to Russia face some difficulties related to the need of adaptation, so the meeting was devoted to issues of particular importance in this regard. A whole range of issues was covered, from migration rules to peculiarities of life in a student dormitory. The meeting was also attended by some leading representatives of UNN institutes and faculties who gave the students an idea of their future academic life. Activists representing the UNN Student Council told the newcomers about the creative side of student life: participation in concerts, festivals, sports competitions and other events.
