Ten postgraduate students of Lobachevsky University became the winners of the scholarship of the Russian President. The contest results placed UNN among Russia’s ten best higher education institutions in terms of the number of winners, which confirms the university's high status as a leading research and educational centre in the Russian Federation.

The Presidential Scholarship serves as a testament to high-class scientific achievements and as an incentive to continue research focused on solving the tasks outlined in the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of Russia.

The monthly scholarship in the amount of 75 thousand roubles represents a significant financial support enabling postgraduate students to engage in in-depth research in priority areas.

The winners of this year's scholarship competition are::

  • Yuri Zolin, research supervisor Vladimir Sukhov (Institute of Biology and Biomedicine) 
  • Maria Karpova, research supervisor Irina Balalaeva (Institute of Biology and Biomedicine) 
  • Maria Zapevalova, research supervisor Ekaterina Shchegravina (Faculty of Chemistry)
  • Alsu Sitdikova, research supervisor Alexey Fedorov (Faculty of Chemistry)
  • Alexander Kapinos (Faculty of Chemistry), research supervisor Andrey Vorotyntsev (Research Institute of Chemistry)
  • Ekaterina Stepanova (Faculty of Chemistry), research supervisor Anton Petukhov (Research Institute of Chemistry)
  • Andrey Komelkov (Faculty of Physics), research supervisor Alexey Nokhrin (Physics and Technology Research Institute)
  • Vitaly Lukoyanov (Faculty of Physics), research supervisor Alexey Mikhaylov (Research Centre “Physics of Solid State Nanostructures”)
  • Stepan Grozov, research supervisor Artem Maslov (Institute of International Relations and World History).

“10 out of 11 representatives of Nizhny Novgorod universities, who were included in the list of 500 scholarship holders from all over Russia, work at our university. Once again, this confirms our leadership position. And the credit for this, of course, goes to the teachers and research supervisors,” said Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University.

The previous competition was also marked by the excellent results of Lobachevsky University postgraduate students: eight representatives of UNN were awarded the Presidential Scholarship.
