The 1st International Eurasian Summer School concludes at UNN

From July 27 to August 8, the UNN International Cooperation Department conducted the First International Eurasian Summer School, as part of the International Summer Lobachevsky University project. It was held with the support of the Priority 2030 University Development Programme and the Eurasian Network University. The school participants studied the processes of modern Eurasian integration, including trends and challenges in economics, politics, and law.

To participate in the school, a record number of 846 applications was submitted from 22 countries such as Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Algeria, Moldova, Iran, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, South Korea, Ghana, Guinea, Serbia and Bulgaria.

"I would like to note the particular significance of the Eurasian agenda for securing our country's technological sovereignty. The numbers speak to the high level of interest in economic integration amid sanctions, the non-economic dimensions of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and the advancement of technological leadership across the post-Soviet region: out of 846 applications, we selected 228 participants, including individual candidates, as well as students and faculty from the Eurasian Network University, UNN’s partner schools and universities abroad. Notably, nearly half of the participants are Russian citizens, who also benefited from gaining new insights into the 'integration of integrations' within the EAEU," said Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University.

The following topics aroused the most interest during the school: modern political architecture, activities of key bodies and institutions of the EAEU, specifics of the diplomatic protocol and foreign policy processes in the EAEU countries, labour market regulation, development of industrial potential of the EAEU under sanctions, legal regulation, migration, foreign economic and humanitarian policies of the EAEU, ensuring technological sovereignty, economic and financial security, as well as the concept of "Greater Eurasia" in the context of current challenges and threats.

Due to the great interest in Eurasian topics, it is planned to run the school in the future in collaboration with partners from the Eurasian Network University, involving experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Eurasian Economic Commission.
