The main topic of the District Council meeting, which was held on March 12 in Izhevsk by Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, was the implementation in the regions of the Volga Federal District of measures to identify, support and develop the abilities and talents of children and young people.

“To occupy a worthy place in the competitive world, to preserve independence and to develop adequately, we need a breakthrough. This requires defining new, integrated strategies for working with gifted youth, ” said Igor Komarov at the opening session. Particular attention at the meeting was given to the issue of personnel support and retention of young talents in the regions. According to Igor Komarov, the task of the state is to create the necessary conditions so that gifted young people find a worthy use for themselves without leaving for other cities. The meeting was attended by the heads of all subjects of the Volga Federal Distict. The Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, made a presentation “On a unified integrated system for identifying and supporting gifted schoolchildren and students in the Nizhny Novgorod region”.

Coverage of children by various programs is 84.7%, which is significantly higher than the national average of 71%,” Gleb Nikitin emphasized.

Gleb Nikitin also said that the integrated system for identifying and supporting gifted schoolchildren and students in the Nizhny Novgorod region includes the Center for Gifted Children, the School of Young Researchers at the IAP RAS, the UNN University Education Cluster project, which unites 41 schools, and the career guidance project “Trajectory”. The UNN President, the Chairman of the Council of Rectors of the Volga Federal University Roman Strongin and the UNN Vice-Rector for Public Relations Nikita Avralev also took part in the meeting of the Council.
