The first group of English-language tour guides prepared at Lobachevsky University

On the eve of the 2018 World Cup, the first group of guides prepared to conduct city tours in English graduated from the UNN. On June 13, students of the program "The Basics of Tour Guidance in English" were issued certificates on upgrading their qualifications. They received the documents at the UNN Institute of International Relations and World History where a special program for preparing English-language tour guides was organized.

The aim of the three-month course was to provide students with practical skills required to conduct a tour in a foreign language.

"Knowledge of the historical and cultural potential of Nizhny Novgorod and the skills of communication with foreign guests will give our graduates a competitive advantage over other guides," says Veronika Belyaeva, head of the Center for Tourism Education, Research and Interaction with Travel Industry at the UNN Institute of International Relations and World History.

The program of professional retraining "The Basics of Tour Guidance" has been running at Lobachevsky University since 2016. It has been highly appreciated by industry experts, in particular, the University was listed as the winner in the competition "Leaders of the tourist industry of the Nizhny Novgorod region in 2015-2016" in the nomination "For contribution to the development of training in the tourism industry."
