On March 30, the School of Young Diplomat was opened at the Corporate University of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Government. The project is organized by the Department of International Relations of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region in cooperation with the Representative Office of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nizhny Novgorod, National Research Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod, Dobrolyubov State Linguistic University of Nizhny Novgorod and the Lomonosov International School.

Among the project mentors are Alexander Bedny, UNN Vice-Rector for International Affairs, and Mikhail Rykhtik, Director of the UNN Institute of International Relations and World History. Following a competitive selection process, more than 50 students in grades 9-11 from different districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region, who dream to pursue a career in international relations, have been enrolled in the School of Young Diplomat. The students will attend a series of lectures on the history of the diplomatic service, international relations theory, "smart power", negotiation rules and diplomatic etiquette. They will also meet with international students and foreign delegations, attend major international events and language clubs. Under the guidance of mentors, future diplomats will take part in team building activities, business games "SCO International Model" and "UN International Model", and will be able to take part in a project to promote Russian education abroad. We hope that the experience gained in the School will help them to join the ranks of international relations students at Lobachevsky University.

Lobachevsky University trains international relations experts at the Institute of International Relations and World History in the fields of international relations and foreign regional studies. In 2016, the UNN launched the English-language Bachelor's programme "International Relations", and in 2020, the English-language Master's programme "International Relations & Strategic Studies". In addition, a summer school "Russia Goes Global: Modern International Relations Trends & Challenges" is held annually for students from leading foreign universities.
