UNN and Delta University of Science and Technology to launch joint programmes in Egypt
On October 15, a delegation from the Delta University of Science and Technology (Egypt) visited Lobachevsky University. During the visit, the parties discussed issues of joint training in medical fields at the Egyptian university, as well as pre-university training in Russian language and specialised subjects. Network collaboration between universities contributes to the development of cooperation in the fields of science and education between Russia and Egypt within the framework of the BRICS interstate association.
“Our guests representing Delta University of Science and Technology are interested in developing cooperation with our Institute of Clinical Medicine, primarily in the fields of General Medicine and Dentistry, as well as in organizing clinical practice for students. I am sure that our cooperation will enrich both sides. We expect that in the near future we will start implementing joint network educational programs,” said Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University.
The Egyptian representatives noted that Russia and Egypt have always had warm relations and expressed hope for the realisation of joint projects with Lobachevsky University not only in the field of education, but also in other areas.
“Delta Group, which includes Delta University of Science and Technology, is the largest educational organization in the Middle East, implementing its projects in Iraq, UAE, Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region. It is a great honor for us to interact with Lobachevsky University and we hope for fruitful cooperation,” emphasized Dr. Mohamed Rabie Nasser Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Delta University.
During their visit, the guests toured the UNN Institute of Clinical Medicine (ICM), the University Clinic and the Simulation Centre, and visited the Neurosciences Research Institute. They also took part in the awarding ceremony for the winners of the student conference on the results of the ICM practical training and learned about the results of research performed by this institute’s postgraduate students. The working visit concluded with the discussion of a number of issues concerning joint educational programs in the field of medicine and trilateral interaction of universities with possible industrial partners and medical organisations of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Delta University of Science and Technology is the first private university founded in 2007 in the city of El Mansoura in the Nile Delta region. The university is located in one of Egypt’s most densely populated areas, an emerging educational hub. It is part of the Delta group of universities. In May this year, the university's dental clinic was included in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest dental clinic in the world. The university currently has about 7,500 students. Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes are offered in the following fields: Business Management, Engineering, Pharmacology, Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Public Health, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Arts.
