UNN and Samarkand State University to launch double degree programme in biomedicine
Lobachevsky University and Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov (SamSU) signed an agreement on implementing the Master's degree programme in Biomedicine in a network format. The online signing ceremony took place on 22 February 2024.
According to Alexander Bedny, UNN Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Networking, SamSU students choosing this programme will have the opportunity to receive diplomas from two universities. The first group of students can begin their studies starting from the new academic year 2024/2025.
"Lobachevsky University and SamSU are two classical, multidisciplinary universities, and our cooperation since 2018 has been developing in a wide range of areas. In the summer of 2023, we decided together with our partners to create an International Research and Education Centre in the field of biomedicine and chemistry. Over several months, a lot of work has been done to design and formalise the first joint educational programme of the two universities - a Master's degree programme in biomedicine. The UNN Institute of Biology and Biomedicine is the base unit for implementing the programme. The launch of the new network educational programme expands the opportunities for international education in the Master's programmes at our two universities and will serve as an important stage in the further development of our cooperation in the field of biomedicine", said Alexander Bedny.
It should be noted that cooperation between Lobachevsky University and educational institutions of Uzbekistan began after the First Russian-Uzbek Educational Forum held in Tashkent in 2018. Currently, 9 higher education institutions of Uzbekistan are among the UNN partners: Karshi State University, Bukhara Institute of Engineering and Technology, Tashkent State University of Law, Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent Financial Institute, Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, Fergana State University, Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov, and Urgench branch of Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi.
