UNN and University of Rio de Janeiro sign cooperation agreement
Lobachevsky University and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro have signed an agreement on cooperation in education and research, and on academic exchanges of students.
The signing ceremony took place on January 24, 2025 at the Moscow State Linguistic University as part of the round table meeting of the League of Universities of Russia, Brazil and Belarus. The documents were signed by Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University, and Roberto de Andrade Medronho, Rector of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
“We are very pleased that the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro has become our new partner. The agreement we have signed envisages fruitful cooperation in joint research, initiatives aimed at studying the Russian and Portuguese languages, exchange of students and teachers, implementation of joint projects within BRICS, as well as within the League of Universities of Russia, Brazil and Belarus,” said UNN Rector Oleg Trofimov.
The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro is the oldest and the largest federal classical university in Brazil. It was founded in 1792. Currently, the university has more than 53,500 students and about 4,000 teaching staff members who provide educational programs in a wide range of areas. The language of instruction is Portuguese.
