Тhe annual International Applied Research Conference, “The Future of France and Russia in Post-Crisis World: Civil Society Dialogue in Education, Science, and Economics” took place in Nice (France). This year, Russian and French colleagues gathered for the eighth time to discuss important current issues of cooperation. The conference was organized by the University of Nice Sofia-Antipolis (UNS), the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University), the International Association of University Professors and Lecturers, UNESCO (IAUPL), CEPN-UP13, the City Hall of Nice and the Cote d'Azur Metropolitan Area. The conference was held under the UNESCO patronage.

The aim of the conference was to exchange ideas on emerging challenges and problems in the post-crisis economy using the examples of France and Russia, to present an analysis of the new trends in the development of civil society, academic freedoms, migration processes, and the impact of these processes on the modernization of economic systems.

Conference participants discussed a wide range of issues on the following topics:
· a new model of universities in the digital revolution,
· social policy and human development,
· "new reality" in the post-crisis economy and macroeconomic policies of countries with developed markets,
· development of the education economy: world experience and Russia,
· creating conditions for sustainable development: economic, financial and country aspects,
· the concept of "Smart City" and its application,
· academic freedoms and the development of universities.

Lobachevsky University was represented at the conference by Irina Leonova, Head of the International Affairs Department. During the discussion of the activities and prospects for the development of the Russian-French Network University established in 2016, she shared the valuable experience of cooperation between Lobachevsky University and French universities within the framework of the Russian-French University (RFU). RFU as a consortium including Lobachevsky University, Dobrolyubov Linguistic University (Nizhny Novgorod), Pierre Mendes France University and Stendhal University (Grenoble) was established in 1995. At present, these French universities have been incorporated into the Grenoble Alpes University, which continues successful cooperation with Lobachevsky University.
