The Lobachevsky University Choir took part in the 4th International Creative Project-Competition “Slavic Motives” in Minsk.

The project serves as a forum for communication and dialogue between different generations of creative people, promotes creative and professional meetings of young people and educators from Russia and the Republic of Belarus, serves to develop cooperation between educational institutions of the two countries. It was held with the support of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences and the Glinka Minsk State Musical College. The jury included leading Belarusian and Russian choir directors and experts. The competition of choirs was held at the Upper Town Concert Hall in two categories: Academic and Folk singing.

The Academic Choir of Lobachevsky University under the direction of Larisa Erykalova took part in the International Forum and presented its competition program in the Academic Music category. The vocalists performed works by Georgy Sviridov and Anton Arensky as well as a Belarusian folk song.

According to the results of the competition, the UNN Choir received the 1st Degree Laureate Diploma and became the winner in the category “Academic Choir”. The director of the choir  Larisa Erykalova was awarded the medal “Best Conductor”.

The Lobachevsky University Choir also gave performances at the Church of St. Michael the Archangel and at the All Saints Memorial Church in Minsk.
