The preparation for the launch of the Lobachevsky satellite into space orbit is approaching its final stage. The spacecraft is built on the Geoscan 16U satellite platform.

Researchers Denis Bolshakov and Leonid Korolev from the UNN Research and Education Centre «Physics of Solid-State Nanostructures» have carried out a final check of the hardware and software complex developed at Lobachevsky University for testing memristors, new-generation microelectronic devices, in outer space. Earlier, the test sample of the Lobachevsky satellite successfully passed a series of mechanical tests required for the spacecraft to be cleared for launch on the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with the Fregat space tug.

In October, the satellite will be integrated into the launch container. After that, the Lobachevsky satellite, a small CUBESAT 16U spacecraft, will be transported to the Vostochny Cosmodrome. The launch is scheduled for the end of the year. The Lobachevsky satellite will be accompanied by other small CUBESAT 16U spacecraft from Samara National Research University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. These satellites are part of the Space-π research and educational project organised by the Foundation for the Promotion of Innovation.
