In the QS World University Rankings 2017 that has just been published, Lobachevsky University has confirmed its standing among the world’s best universities. Its current position is 701-750. Also, the university has significantly improved its performance in the category "Faculty/Student Ratio" that  characterizes the quality of education, rising from its position 297 in 2016 to position 258 in 2017. In total, more than 4,000 universities took part in the rating study in 2017. The final list includes 980 best universities all over the world, including 24 universities from Russia.

According to Professor Evgeny Chuprunov, Rector of Lobachevsky University, these figures confirm UNN’s successful development as one of the world's leading centers of science and education. "The fact that the UNN confidently maintains its position in the face of increasing competition in the global educational market and a significant increase in the number of participants in the QS ranking from year to year shows that our university is developing dynamically, demonstrates a high level of education and research and holds leading positions in many research areas", said Evgeny Chuprunov.

The ranking compiled by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds lists the best educational institutions of the world based on the following six criteria: their authority in the field of research, faculty to student ratio, university reputation among employers, citation index of scientific publications, share of international students and faculty members.
