The Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia hosted the 21st International Congress “Blishchenko Readings” held in memory of the outstanding Russian international lawyer I.P. Blishchenko. The subject of the 2025 Congress was “International Law - a Tool to Ensure Peace and Confidence”.

Lobachevsky University was represented by the faculty members of the UNN Department of European and International Law: Head of the Department Yulia Orlova, Associate Professor Emil Karakulyan, Senior Lecturer Andrey Leonov, Assistant Egor Baskakov, and Elizaveta Beloborodova, a student of the Law and Linguistics programme.

Representatives of the UNN Law Faculty took part and made presentations at round tables covering such areas as “History of International Law and Modernity”, “Law of International Organisations”, “70 Years of the Establishment of UNHCR and 35 Years of the UN Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families: Successes and Prospects”, “Current Problems of Legal Regulation of International Economic Relations: Global, Regional and National Levels”, “Climate and International Law”, “International Protection of Human Rights”.

The Congress “Blishchenko Readings” brings together both world-renowned and young researchers and practitioners. More than 350 participants from 30 countries took part in this 21st Congress, 12 thematic round tables were organised. The Congress “Blishchenko Readings” is a platform for discussion of topical problems of modern international law. Taking part in the Congress were also representatives of the UN system in the Russian Federation, of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and some institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
