UNN delegation takes part in HORIZON 2020 EPTRI General Assembly
On October 21-22, the Lobachevsky University delegation comprising Dr. Irina Leonova, Director of the International Affairs Department, and Professor Claudio Franceschi, Head of the UNN Research laboratory for healthy aging systems medicine, took part in the General Assembly of the HORIZON 2020 EPTRI project in Warsaw (Poland).
The event was held at the Polish Ministry of Health and was welcomed by Poland’s Minister of Health Lukasz Szumowski. During the meeting, project consortium members discussed the architecture of the research structure being created at the central level as well as at the level of the countries participating in the project.
Intermediate results of the project were also summed up, including an analysis of target customer groups, of the required software and the distribution of roles within the structure being set up. Professor Franceschi presented his vision of the project development concerning the expansion of the consortium participants’ competences using the already existing data and practices relating to longevity.
The delegation of Lobachevsky University has initiated the preparation of a new application for the next project in the framework of the European program "Horizon 2020", which would make it possible to extend the age range of the cohorts under study and to address the issues of health protection in a more systematic way. This proposal was supported by all the 26 members of the consortium.
EPTRI (European Paediatric Translational Research Infrastructure) project, coordinated by CVBF and aimed to create the framework for a new research infrastructure, is intended to enhance technology-driven paediatric research in drug discovery and early development phases to be translated into clinical research and paediatric use of medicines.
