The UNN delegation took part in the joint exposition of the leading Russian universities - participants of Excellence Project 5-100 at the international exhibition-conference of the European Association for international education – EAIE 2018), which was held in Geneva (Switzerland) 11-14 September 2018.

UNN was represented by Vice-rector for International Affairs Dr. Alexander Bedny and Head of International Affairs Department Dr. Irina Leonova. The delegation held several dozen meetings with current and prospective partners of Lobachevsky University from Belgium, Great Britain, India, Spain, Canada, China, Malta, Turkey, Finland, France, South Africa, Japan and other countries. During the working meetings such issues as creation and development of joint educational programs, exchange of students and teachers, international research and joint submission of applications for Russian and international scientific and educational competitive programs were discussed. The exposition of the project 5-100 was visited by the first Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Switzerland Sergey Smirnov. He got acquainted with the stand of Lobachevsky University and discussed with its representatives the prospects of cooperation with Swiss universities.

During the EAIE-2018, Vice-rector for International Affairs Dr. Alexander Bedny made a report at the session "Accelerated internationalization: analysis and risk management", presenting the experience of Lobachevsky University and other leading universities participating in the project "5-100" in the implementation of strategies for intensive development of international cooperation.

The session was attended by the Deputy Director of the Center for internationalization of higher education (Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Italy), former President of EAIE Fiona Hunter and Vice-rector for International Affairs of the University of Granada (Spain) Dorothy Kelly.

In the framework of the session, the mechanisms of accelerated internationalization strategies implemented by Russian, Spanish and other universities were discussed as well as the existing risks and the ways to overcome them.
