In the middle of May 2022, Alexander Bedny and Konstantin Kozadaev, Vice-Rectors for international affairs of Lobachevsky University and Belarusian State University (BSU), held an online meeting to identify priority areas and possible forms of cooperation between the two universities. The parties paid special attention to the development of scholarship programmes for academic and research mobility, preparation and implementation of joint research projects, and open lectures. The universities also agreed to develop a master's programme in English with the participation of leading academics from both institutions and to jointly promote this programme abroad.

The meeting was followed by a working session where Konstantin Kemaev, Head of the UNN International Cooperation Office, and Tatiana Nagornaya, Head of the BSU Centre for International Marketing, Head of the International Fundraising Office, discussed concrete forms of cooperation, including conditions for students' participation in academic mobility programmes, implementation of joint educational and research projects and set deadlines for the planned activities. A separate topic of discussion was inter-university cooperation in Olympiads, student conferences and youth projects.

UNN and BSU  have a long history of fruitful cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Association of Universities, the Association of Russian and Belarusian Universities, the International AML/CFT Network Institute, as well as on the platform of the Council for Business Cooperation of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Republic of Belarus. Cooperation and academic exchange agreements between the universities were renewed in 2019. Cooperation between BSU and UNN develops in the form of academic exchanges of students, participation of faculty members in conferences held at Lobachevsky University and Belarusian State University, UNN’s participation in the annual Eurasian Olympiad in Analytical Economics and Forecasting, scientific publications and implementation of joint research with the grant support of the Russian Science Foundation and the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research.
