UNN expands cooperation with Latin American countries

Ekaterina Smirnova, Head of the Department for International Student Affairs, took part in an online meeting with applicants from Latin American countries organised by the Latin American-Russian Association for Higher Education (ALAR). The meeting was aimed at presenting the project of the Lobachevsky/RU international Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language, as well as opportunities for winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad to receive scholarships for education under the quota of the Russian Government.

The Lobachevsky/RU Olympiad aims to increase interest abroad in studying Russian and to attract foreign citizens and compatriots living abroad to pursing education in Russia.

Lobachevsky University and ALAR have been implementing a joint programme of studying Russian as a foreign language for applicants from Latin American countries for several years. More than 100 students from Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Ecuador have already completed the programme.
