Anna Kharcheva, instructor of the Department of Mathematical Methods in Radiophysics, UNN Faculty of Radiophysics, has defended her thesis for a PhD degree of the University of Palermo (Italy) in the field of physical sciences. The defense took place during a remote session of the Italian Graduate Examinations Committee on March 20. The topic of Anna Kharcheva's thesis is "Anomalous diffusion and nonlinear relaxation phenomena in stochastic models of interdisciplinary physics".

Her research supervisors are Professor Bernardo Spagniolo of the University of Palermo, who is heading one of the mega-grants carried out at Lobachevsky University, and the Head of the Department of Mathematical Methods in Radiophysics, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Alexander Dubkov. The defense was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Radiophysics, Professor Valery Matrosov, Head of the Department of Acoustics, Professor Sergei Gurbatov, Head of the Department of Mathematical Methods in Radiophysics, Alexander Dubkov and faculty members of the department.

Anna Kharcheva became the fourth international post-graduate student of the Faculty of Radiophysics, who received a PhD degree in the framework of the joint post-graduate program. The agreement between Lobachevsky University and the University of Palermo on the implementation of this program was signed in 2006.
