UNN has improved its position in the SCImago Institutions Rankings-2017

In the 2017 ranking, Lobachevsky University holds the 646th place, thereby improving its position compared to the previous year (655th place). This year, the UNN has also improved its performance relative to other Russian universities by taking the 15th position (a year earlier, it was ranked 20th). It should be noted that starting from the first year of its participation in the ranking, even with the increasing number of universities and research organizations, Lobachevsky University has been demonstrating upward dynamics: in 2009 the UNN ranked 868th. A total of 5,250 organizations took part in the 2017 ranking, including universities, research institutes and academies, both state-run and private.

According to UNN Rector Evgeny Chuprunov, Lobachevsky University's consistent progress is largely due to its successful efforts in competitiveness enhancement. "The fact the UNN demonstrates a good growth dynamics in the face of growing competition in the global educational market confirms that our education and science are world-class," notes Evgeny Chuprunov.

The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is a classification of academic and research-related institutions ranked by a composite indicator that combines three different sets of indicators based on research performance, innovation outputs and societal impact measured by their web visibility. It relies on the data of the Scopus scientometric system,  the most representative database of publication activity in the world.
