UNN improves its position in the subject ranking of Russian universities – 2017

Analytical Center "Expert" has published the results of the second Russian university ranking where Lobachevsky University entered the top 20 in 10 subject areas out of 13 possible. This year, UNN’s highest position (6th place) is in the subject area  "Mathematics". Lobachevsky University is also strong in Computer Sciences (7th-8th place), Earth Sciences (10th place), Physics (10th-11th place). The aim of subject rankings is to reflect the achievements of universities in a specific subject area. In 2017, the number of subject areas increased from 10 to 13, and a total of 88 Russian universities were ranked. When calculating a university's total score, indicators in three categories are evaluated (with equal shares of 33.3%): 

1. The quality of the university's growth.

2. The demand for its research results.

3. The scale and stability of research work.

The ranking takes into account the papers published in journals that are indexed by the Scopus international scientific citation database over the past four years. "The UNN has improved its position in the rankings compared to its 2016 results and has successfully debuted in five subject areas, which once again confirms the consistently high international level of education and research at our university. We will continue to improve the quality of our scientific activities", said Rector Evgeny Chuprunov.
