Based on the results of 2018, Lobachevsky University has been listed in the prestigious subject ranking of the world’s best universities, the 2019 Times Higher Education Subject Rankings. In the area of ​​"Physics and Astronomy", its position is in the 601-800 range. According to UNN Rector, Professor Evgeny Chuprunov, the good standing of Lobachevsky University among the world university elite shows that the trend towards the development of education and science at the university is in line with the highest international standards.

“We confidently occupy leading positions among the best universities in the world in physics. The number of subject areas where the university has very good performance is also increasing. Thanks to our participation in the Russian Academic Excellence Project, completely new conditions and opportunities have been created for students, postgraduates and employees for realizing their research, educational and innovation potential,” said Evgeny Chuprunov.

The Times Higher Education Subject Rankings covers 11 subject areas and employs the same rigorous and balanced range of 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields. As part of the study, universities are comprehensively assessed for the quality of their educational services, academic and research reputation, citations, international outlook, and financial results.
