UNN lecturer presented her report at the international forum "Russia-Africa: What’s Next?"
The International Forum "Russia-Africa: What’s Next?" was recently held at MGIMO University in Moscow. It was a logical follow-up to the Russia-Africa Summit that took place in St. Petersburg in 2023.
The Forum is aimed at promoting friendly, mutually beneficial ties between Russia and African states. It was held for the third time, and guests included leading Russian and African politicians, diplomats, experts, entrepreneurs, leaders and activists of public organisations. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov gave a welcoming address to the forum participants.
A number of panel discussions and round tables were held during the forum. The focus was on Russian-African media cooperation and the fight against fake news, interaction between Russia and Africa in the context of BRICS expansion, and partnership in education, entrepreneurship and natural resources management. Also, an exhibition of traditional African art was opened on the margins of the forum.
The section "Humanitarian Cooperation" included a meeting "Partnership of the Nizhny Novgorod region with African countries in the field of education", which was attended by Tatyana Skorobogatova, a deputy of the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod, and Artur Shtoyan, Director of the Department of Social Communications and Youth Policy.
Anna Ngoma, Associate Professor of the UNN Department of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language, presented the experience of Lobachevsky University in her report.
"Africa is a continent with a growing number of young population, so the topic of exporting Russian education, increasing the level of attractiveness and competitiveness of Russian education on the African continent, as well as the potential for the development of Russian-African youth cooperation are highly relevant today. Such meetings provide an opportunity to discuss an important part of the bilateral agenda," she said.
