UNN medical students complete internship in medical institutions of Nizhny Novgorod

1610 students of the UNN Institute of Clinical Medicine have successfully completed their summer internship. Under the guidance of experienced medical mentors, future doctors had their practical training in 18 medical institutions of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Lobachevsky University students were able to apply their theoretical knowledge and try their skills as nursing assistants, assistant paramedics of ambulance and emergency medical aid, assistant hospital doctors (surgeons, therapists, obstetricians and gynaecologists). They also gained professional experience in the positions of nursing staff.

"The practical training was preceded by a lot of work to conclude contracts with medical institutions and to assign students. I am addressing my great thanks to all the chief medical officers of the hospitals  who accepted the students of Lobachevsky University. Chief medical officers see Russian students as future employees of the health care system, so they willingly accept them. Since up to 70% of our students are foreigners, special thanks go to those medical institutions that accept our international English-speaking students," said Olga Vilkova, Deputy Director of the UNN Institute of Clinical Medicine, who supervised the practical training in 2023.

The decision to establish the Institute of Clinical Medicine at Lobachevsky University was made by the UNN Academic Council in October 2022.
