UNN plans joint research projects with Belarusian universities

The second joint session of the working group for cooperation in education and science within the framework of the Business Cooperation Council between the Republic of Belarus and the Nizhny Novgorod region took place on March 31. It was attended by UNN Vice-Rector for International Affairs Alexander Bedny and representatives of the Belarusian universities:

• Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalization of Education of the Belarusian State University K.V. Kozadaev,
• Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Belarusian National Technical University O.K. Gusev,
• Vice-Rector of the Minsk State Linguistic University L.A. Tarasevich.

Alexander Bedny has emphasised the considerable potential for cooperation with Belarusian partners, highlighting the historically established ties between UNN and BSU, as well as the actively developing contacts with the Polessky State University. The parties paid special attention to joint research projects: "Research of physical and chemical processes of light-emitting structures based on silicon oxide implanted with tin, silicon and zinc ions for a new generation of optical fibre devices" (implemented in the framework of the RFBR grant jointly with BSU) and "High strength corrosion-resistant titanium alloys for nuclear engineering and power engineering" (implemented in partnership with the Federal Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus) as well as publication activities.

"Lobachevsky University is ready and open for joint research projects," confirmed Alexander Bedny. 

He also encouraged his colleagues to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the system of joint grants of the Russian Science Foundation. During the meeting, the participants stressed the high rate of cooperation development, as well as the prospects for collaboration, in particular in the field of joint research and academic mobility.

Lobachevsky University extensively cooperates with many partners from the Republic of Belarus, including Belarusian State University, Belarusian State Medical University, Vitebsk State University, Polotsk State University and Polessky State University. Students and staff of the universities regularly participate in events at the partner institutions. Research interaction is also developing, including cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus.
