Vladislav Epifanov, a postgraduate student of the UNN Institute of Information Technology, Mathematics and Mechanics, took third place at the world finals of the Google Code Jam 2017 programming competition. Nikolai Kalinin, a student of the UNN Advanced School of General Physics, who also took part in the finals of the competition, ended up among the top 20 leaders of the Google Code Jam 2017. The finals of the tournament were held in Dublin (Ireland). The winner of the Google Code Jam 2017 is Gennady Korotkevich, a masters program student of the ITMO University, and Konstantin Semyonov of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology holds the second place. It is remarkable that all the three main prizes at this prestigious international programming competition have been taken by the representatives of the universities participating in the 5-100 Project.

"We are proud of our students' results at this prestigious competition. These results once again demonstrate that Lobachevsky University holds a leading position in Russia and in the world in the field of programming and high-performance computing", said Professor Evgeny Chuprunov, Rector of the UNN. Vladislav Epifanov is also the prize-winner of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) in  2011 and 2016.
