An international theoretical and practical conference "Journalism-Media Studies-Mentoring" was held at the Faculty of Journalism of the Belarusian State University (BSU), in memory of Professor Boris Streltsov, theorist of the Belarusian journalism science, writer and educator.

Professor Olga Savinova, Head of the Journalism Department at Lobachevsky University, made a report at the plenary session of the conference. The subject of her presentation concerned the problem of transformation of journalistic genres as a reflection of changes in modern society and journalism. It captured the audience's attention and sparked a lively discussion. In particular, the issues discussed included the relationship between journalism and the blogosphere, the culture of media consumption by young people, the mission of the profession of journalists in today's situation, and how a teacher-mentor can shape the professional and moral qualities of a young journalist.

During her visit to the Belarusian State University, Professor Olga Savinova took part in the meeting of Vitaly Tretyakov, a well-known TV journalist and Dean of the Higher School of Television at Moscow State University, with students and lecturers.

The Belarusian State University is UNN’s partner university.  Faculty members of the BSU Journalism Department and the UNN Journalism Department have been cooperating in the training of journalists for many years.
