UNN professors take part in Rastyannikov Readings
Head of the Department of World Economy and Customs at the UNN Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship Maria Gorbunova and Associate Professor of the same department Elena Livanova took part in the 3rd Conference "Rastyannikov Readings: A New Phase of Globalisation and the Countries of the East in the 21st Century". The conference, organised by the Centre for Agrarian Studies and Food Security, the Centre for Indian Studies and the Department of Economic Research of the Institute of Oriental Studies of Russian Academy of Sciences, was held on February 14-16 in a mixed format.
The opening ceremony of the conference took place in the Hall of Academic Councils of the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies in Moscow. The main issues discussed at the conference included:
– Distinctive features of globalisation in the 21st century. The role of the countries of the East in shaping the new phase of globalisation.
– Influence of globalisation on economic growth in Asia and Africa. The role of transnational companies.
– Social problems of globalisation: socio-economic inequality, fighting poverty.
The conference was organized in six sections. In the fourth session, Maria Gorbunova and Elena Livanova presented their report on "Resource Availability and Valence of the First and Second Order Centres of Power in West and South Asia". This team of authors conducts interdisciplinary research based on the use of quantitative approaches and "Big Data" to study the dynamics of international relations. The results of this research have been published in journals indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases.
