Home - News RSS feed - UNN professors take part in the 16th International Congress of Slavists



From August 20 to August 27, 2018, the Philological Faculty of the Belgrade University (Serbia) hosted the 16th International Congress of Slavists. Lobachevsky University was represented by Prof. L.V. Ratsiburskaya, Head of the Department of Modern Russian Language and General Linguistics and I.S. Yukhnova, Professor of the Department of Russian Literature. The International Congress of Slavists is a quinquennial gathering of Slavists in the humanities and social sciences from over forty countries worldwide. It is organized by the International Committee of Slavists (ICS), which consists of the chairs of each of constituent national committees. The first congress was held in Prague in 1929.

This year, more than 1,000 leading scientists from different countries took part in the Belgrade Congress. The program of the congress included 4 plenary sessions, 115 sectional sessions, 32 thematic blocks, 9 round tables. L.V. Ratsiburskaya as a member of the Commission on Slavic Word Formation took part in its work and presented a report. I.S. Yukhnova made a report on the topic "Dialogue of Cultures in Contemporary Russian Prose about Translators". At the opening ceremony of the Congress, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia Mladen Šarčević, Minister of Culture and Information Vladan Vukosavljević, President of the Serbian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Kostić, Dean of the Philological Faculty Lilyana Marković addressed the guests. In her speech, Mrs. Marković emphasized the particular importance of the contacts of the Belgrade University with the UNN in the field of studying the Serbian language.
