Head of the UNN Journalism Department, Professor Olga Savinova and Deputy Head of the International Office Dmitry Kolesnikov took part in an international seminar within the framework of the Russian-Norwegian project "Training journalists in a multicultural society" in Oslo, Norway on June 12-13. The seminar was attended by the project partners from the universities of Oslo, Volda, Nizhni Novgorod, St. Petersburg, and Yekaterinburg.  The Department of Journalism of Lobachevsky University has been participating in the project since 2013. The relevance of the topic is underscored by the current ethno-cultural situation in multi-ethnic societies, and the studies undertaken under the project are of theoretical and practical significance for universities that train journalists in different countries. Over the years, three training seminars were organized for journalism students in Nizhni Novgorod and four in Norway and Germany. Students from Russia, Sweden and Norway gained new knowledge and learned more about the culture and traditions of these countries and peoples. An online manual on intercultural understanding will be prepared as a result of several years of cooperation. This manual, in particular, will reflect the experience of the Volga Federal District in harmonizing interethnic relations.
