Researchers of the UNN Institute of Biology and Biomedicine are developing unique technologies to manage quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the harvest of certain plants by using phytohormones - natural biological substances. The purpose of research is to develop technologies for achieving high yields of crops, including medicinal  plants, and  for  increasing their resistance to adverse environmental conditions. This will contribute to ensuring the country's food security and to the development of Russian pharmaceutical industry.

According to Yulia Sinitsyna,  Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Physiology Department, researchers are working to create "clean" crops. "In nature, plants produce natural biological compounds in the course of their life cycle. We try to artificially treat various crops with such substances to improve their yield. This allows to obtain crops that are more pure, since plants with increased resistance do not require extensive use of herbicides, fungicides, insecticides. Therefore, such agricultural produce is chemically cleaner and ecologically safer",  sais Yulia Sinitsyna.
