On November 9, Elizaveta Solonchenko, Head of the City of Nizhny Novgorod and Evgeny Chuprunov, Rector of Lobachevsky University signed an agreement on cooperation between the municipal entity of Nizhny Novgorod and National Research Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod. Within the framework of such cooperation, it is planned to provide personnel and expert support to the activities of municipal authorities and to improve the quality of the educational process at the UNN Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship. Nikita Avralev, Vice-Rector for Public Relations and Alexander Grudzinsky, Director of the Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship also took part in the signing ceremony.
It was noted by the participants of the meeting that the signing of the agreement took place during the international week of science and peace celebrated under the auspices of the United Nations. Elizaveta Solonchenko emphasized that cooperation between public authorities and academia is now as important as ever.
"The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation has announced a new program stating that the resources of universities should be used for the development of respective regions. Today, we sign a document confirming that we will work together with the authorities to develop our city. At the University of Nizhny Novgorod, we have about 30 thousand students and members of teaching and research staff. When discussing city projects, they will be "in the know", which means that decisions made in the Kremlin of Nizhny Novgorod will be understood by the masses, and this is an important social task,” said Evgeny Chuprunov.
"Currently, our municipal authorities are preparing many important and serious programs for the development of the city. The region’s leading university is included in the professional expert evaluation of municipal programs. For example, the City Duma at its November meeting will consider the issue of the Enterprise Development Program, and it is important for us to obtain an expert opinion from both the university professors who are specialists in this field and the students who are future entrepreneurs," said Elizaveta Solonchenko.
The agreement provides for cooperation in the implementation of the state program "Digital Economy of the Russian Federation", educational and expert support from the Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship for the municipal program "Development of Small and Medium Enterprises in Nizhny Novgorod" for 2018-2020, the implementation of the joint program "The Best Managerial Staff for Nizhny Novgorod", the annual student "Festival of Entrepreneurial Ideas" under the auspices of the Head of the City of Nizhny Novgorod and some other activities.
