UNN students take first place at the festival of scientific achievements

On Thursday, April 13, the team of the UNN Faculty of Physics led by Alexey Nokhrin, Deputy Head of the Department of Physical Materials Science, took part in the festival of scientific achievements "Young Stars of Nizhni Novgorod Science" held by the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhni Novgorod region. The team presented their contribution in the nomination "Natural and Technical Sciences".  Master’s program students of the Faculty of Physics Alexander Popov and Evgeny Lantsev made their presentation on the development of new wear-resistant nanocomposite ceramics and hard alloys obtained at the UNN Faculty of Physics and at the Physics and Technology Research Institute using the technology of spark plasma sintering.  The techniques presented by the UNN students offers many advantages in the development of modern metal cutting tools. More importantly, they also have good prospects in special machine building. The jury consisting of representatives of the city's universities and the Legislative Assembly has awarded the first place to the team of Lobachevsky University.
