UNN students take part in BRICS Summit events in Nizhny Novgorod

The BRICS Foreign Ministers are meeting in Nizhny Novgorod. Delegates from various countries have arrived in the capital of the Volga Federal District to take part in the work of the summit sessions on various areas of the association's activities.

On top of the political and diplomatic component, the summit includes a large number of various events aimed at promoting mutual understanding and cross-cultural dialogue between peoples and countries. This is especially important since universities in the Nizhny Novgorod region have a large number of international students.

As part of the summit, on 9 June, the BRICS Peoples' Friendship Cup football tournament was held among students of Nizhny Novgorod universities.  Lobachevsky University was represented by a team of students from Latin America and a team of students from Iran, which took 3rd place.

Some 60 students of Lobachevsky University participated in the evening festival programme. The guests enjoyed the rhythms of Brazilian samba and bosanova.

The BRICS association includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia.
