The IV International Festival of Student and Youth Sports will be held in Moscow September 18-22

In 2016, Lobachevsky University’s table tennis team (Nizhni Novgorod) was one step away from getting the medals at Moscow Games. Now the University looks forward to its team bringing home medals in mixed doubles, said team captain Sergei Zolotov.

«In 2016, the management of the University decided that our team needed to take part in Moscow Games. Prior to that, I took part in the festival on my own. In 2016, we have shown everything we had. And the fourth place in mixed doubles the best result we could achieve with the line-up we had. We had very strong opponents, the set was difficult. But now we are going to Moscow with the goal to bring back a medal in mixed doubles. Our main contender is the Ural Federal University. In individual competition, we have strong opponents from Lebanon. Our team is young, but experienced. We participated in several serious competitions both among students and professionals. For example, I have a bronze medal of the Russian Club Championship. We have support from the University. Every three months or so we have a meeting with the University’s Rector, during which we tell him about our successes and the challenges we face. The most popular sport in Lobachevsky University is badminton. But table tennis is getting close to it. My expectations for Moscow Games 2017 are a good atmosphere, meeting new people and, of course, playing well.»
