UNN students win medals at the All-Russian checkers competitions among students
The All-Russian competitions in checkers among students closed in Yaroslavl. In total, 24 qualified players from nine higher educational institutions of Russia took part in the event. In the team competition, students from Lobachevsky University ranked third. The team of the Northeastern Federal University proved to be the best among the country’s checkers players. The Siberian Federal University’s team took silver. The team of UNN included Vitaliy Egolin (Faculty of Radiophysics), Igor Palguev (Institute of Information Technology, Mathematics and Mechanics), Dmitry Sirotin (Institute of Information Technology, Mathematics and Mechanics), Dmitry Ponomarev (Faculty of Radiophysics), Lidiya Kornilova (Faculty of Social Sciences) and Elena Kiseleva (Advanced School of General and Applied Physics). In the individual standings among men, best results were shown by Igor Palguev who won silver, and Vitaly Egolin who took the bronze award.
