UNN students win sambo competition in Belarus

An open inter-university sambo tournament to mark the 78th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War was held in Mogilev (Republic of Belarus). It was organised by the Belarusian-Russian University. Athletes representing 12 higher education institutions from Belarus and Russia competed for the medals of the tournament.

The students of Lobachevsky University's Faculty of Physical Education and Sports showed an excellent result in this competition, winning 4 gold medals and one silver medal. Danil Ermolenko became the winner in the 58kg weight category. Egor Emelyanov won all fights ahead of schedule and became the champion in the 64 kg weight category, Ilya Tavankov was unequalled in the heavyweight category and received a special prize "Will to Win".

Ekaterina Mazanova became the most successful athlete on the Lobachevsky University team, winning gold in the 50kg category and silver in the 54kg category.
