The Lobachevsky University swimming team won first place in the team competition at the 11th All-Russian Student Sports Festival as part of the Nizhny Novgorod region team. The event took place on October 18-24 in Izhevsk, the capital of Udmurtia. More than 600 students from 20 regions of the country competed for 73 medals in ten sports disciplines.

The Nizhny Novgorod region team was represented at the festival by students from three universities: Lobachevsky University, Alekseev State Technical University and Minin Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University. 

Evgeny Malevany, a third-year student of the UNN Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, won a silver medal at the 200m distance in the swimming competition. The UNN athletics team won five medals for the Nizhny Novgorod region. Tatiana Kiseleva and Olga Dubinova took first and second places in the women's 200m, while Dmitry Bilyak took second place in the men's 200m, and Ivan Kipelkin took third place. In the mixed relay race, the team took third place and won the cup for second place in the team event, losing only one point to the host team.

"This festival that was held after a two-year break has become a bright page in the history of university sports development in Russia. At such a difficult time, the organisers did their best to ensure that the students felt the atmosphere of a celebration," said Alexander Gutko, Head of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Sports Training of the UNN Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Head of the Regional Branch of the Russian Student Sports Union.
