A meeting of the HORIZON 2020 EPTRI project (European Infrastructure for Pediatric Translational Research) was held in Athens. The UNN has been participating in the project since January 2018. Lobachevsky University was represented at the event by Professor Victor Tarabykin, Advisor to the UNN Rector on Biomedicine, and Irina Leonova, Head of the International Affairs Department.

UNN's partners in this project are 25 leading European associations, medical organizations and leading European universities, such as University College London (United Kingdom), University of Liverpool (United Kingdom), University of Tartu (Estonia), Radboud University (Netherlands).

During the event, Victor Tarabykin chaired the thematic sections "Supporting the development of pediatric drugs" and "Supporting the use of biomarkers in the development of pediatric drugs". One of the key issues of the meeting was the discussion of the next General Assembly to be held at Lobachevsky University in 2019. The project is of particular importance for Lobachevsky University in the framework of the new stage in the development of the UNN biomedical cluster that involves the opening of the Center for Innovative Development and the consolidation of three main areas - research, clinical studies and education.

The EPTRI (European Pediatric Translational Research Infrastructure) project is coordinated by the Consorzio per Valutazioni Biologiche e Farmacologiche (CVBF) and is aimed to create the framework for a new research infrastructure intended to enhance technology-driven pediatric research in drug discovery and early development phases to be translated into clinical research and pediatric use of medicines. The project is carried out within the framework of the European program “Horizon 2020”.
