On January 15-16, 2018, an organizational meeting was held in Rome (Italy) on the international project "The European Pediatric Translational Research Infrastructure" (ID-EPTRI). Lobachevsky University takes part in the project after winning for the first time in the largest and most influential European Commission HORIZON 2020 grant competition. The amount of ID-EPTRI project funding is 3 million euro. Lobachevsky University was represented at the meeting by its Vice-Rector for research Victor Kazantsev and Head of the UNN International Office Irina Leonova.
The aim of the ID-EPTRI project is to develop uniform European practices for clinical trials in pediatrics based on conceptual and technical solutions for new European research infrastructures in order to develop world-class projects. The project is of particular importance to the UNN at the new stage in the development of its biomedical cluster, which began with the opening of the UNN Center for Innovative Development and the consolidation of the three main areas - research, clinical and educational. The ID-EPTRI project is coordinated by the Consortium for Biological and Pharmacological Research (Italy) and includes 25 partners. Among them are leading European associations, medical organizations and leading European universities such as University College London (UK), University of Liverpool (UK), Tartu University (Estonia), Radboud University (the Netherlands). Lobachevsky University is the only Russian university in the project.
As a member of the Translational Medicine Alliance, the UNN will be actively involved in the implementation of the project in all the above-mentioned areas. This will open up a new development stage for the Alliance and the UNN by providing access to the unique European infrastructure and translational medicine data. In the course of the talks that the UNN delegation held with the project coordinators, it was agreed to hold the next meeting of the ID-EPTRI project participants at Lobachevsky University in May 2018.
HORIZON 2020 is a seven-year funding program of the European Union to support and promote research in the European Research Area between 2014 and 2020 with a budget of 80 billion euro.
