Upward trend: UNN demonstrates record growth in the RUR ranking

The international rating agency Round University Rankings (RUR) has released its annual subject rankings, where Lobachevsky University shows strong growth in key natural science and technology fields.

In 2026, the study assessed universities worldwide across 31 subject rankings, with 6 covering broad academic areas and 25 focusing on specialised disciplines, providing a detailed evaluation of performance in specific fields.

Lobachevsky University demonstrated the most notable progress in Life Sciences, climbing 46 positions globally — from 290th to 244th place. In the national ranking, the university entered the top 4 among Russian institutions in this field, moving up from 7th to 4th place.

Significant improvements can also be seen in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, with the global rank rising from 488th to 470th and the national rank climbing from 10th to 6th place in Russia.

The university also showed positive trends in other disciplines:
- Technical Sciences (rising from 709th to 707th place worldwide,andfrom 36th to 31st place nationally);
- Healthcare (rising from 814th to 774th place worldwide, and from 32nd to 20th place nationally);
- Decision Sciences (rising from 803rd to 789th place worldwide, and from 21st to 18th place nationally);
- Chemistry (rising from 726th to 701st place worldwide, and from 21st to 17th place nationally);
- Natural Sciences (rising from 42nd to 40th place in the Russian Federation).

Overall, UNN strengthened its position in the national standings across six disciplines.
