The first defence of Master's theses by international students took place at the Faculty of Social Sciences on 2 October 2020. The students completed their studies at the UNN within the framework of the international educational project of the Erasmus Mundus International Joint Master Degree Programme “Central & East European, Russian & Eurasian Studies” (IMCEERES).

The project, which is implemented by a consortium of eight European universities (including Lobachevsky University) and coordinated by the University of Glasgow (UK), provides a unique opportunity for students to study at 3 universities for 2 years of Master's degree programme and to obtain 3 Master's degrees from leading European universities - members of the consortium. This Master's programme attracts the most talented applicants from all over the world, who have received the first level of education in the leading universities, which are included in the top 500 of institutional and top 200 of subject rankings. The selection for the programme is conducted by a joint examination committee, which includes representatives of all eight member universities of the consortium. In the academic year 2019-2020, six students from the USA, France, Great Britain and Poland, having studied for a semester at the University of Glasgow (Great Britain) and a semester at the University of Tartu (Estonia), came to the Faculty of Social Sciences at Lobachevsky University to complete their studies within the project. The basic degree programme of IMCEERES at Lobachevsky University is the English-language Master's programme "Sociology of Politics and International Relations".

The Master's theses were prepared by students under the joint scientific supervision of teachers from three universities. The defence was organized online as part of a joint meeting of the State Examination Board of Lobachevsky University and representatives of Glasgow University and the University of Tartu. All students have demonstrated a good level of preparation and study of research topics and a high motivation, which was noted by the Board members.

Congratulations to the first graduates of the international joint programme "Central, Eastern European, Russian and Eurasian Studies" on defending their Master's theses!
