Since 1999, February 8 has been celebrated as the Day of Russian Science. Valery Falkov, Minister for Science and Higher Education, addressed Russia’s research community with his greetings:

“This holiday is not only an occasion to commemorate the great achievements of the past, but also an opportunity to look into the future that we are creating today.
We proudly remember outstanding Russian scientists and engineers, whose names are etched forever in the history of world science.

Nikolai Zhukovsky, the founder of hydro- and aerodynamics, Sergei Korolev, who opened the way to space for mankind, Andrei Tupolev, who created legendary airplanes - these are just a few examples of how the inventions of our scientists set the pace of scientific and technological progress of the whole mankind.

Today's scientists and engineers continue this glorious tradition. Thanks to your efforts, Russia remains a leader in nuclear energy, medicine, and is making progress in artificial intelligence and many other areas.

It is with great pride that we note a significant increase among school and university students in their interest in the field of science. More and more young scientists are joining our research organisations. At the same time, cooperation between universities, research institutes and the real sector of the economy is strengthening.

On its part, the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education creates the necessary conditions for creative research. Instrumentation facilities are being upgraded, grant support is being strengthened, and new youth laboratories are being opened.

Dear colleagues, may your work always be in demand and your ideas be realised. I wish you good health, inexhaustible energy and new discoveries that will enhance the power and prosperity of our Motherland”.
